SAFETY AT YET
Community Guidelines
Last updated: September 29, 2026
YET is built for real people meeting around real plans. These Guidelines apply to profiles, events, images, comments, invitations, collaborations, chats and links. They form part of the Terms of Service.
Be authentic
- Do not impersonate a person, organiser, venue, business or YET.
- Do not create deceptive events, fake attendance, fraudulent offers or misleading locations.
- Do not coordinate manipulation, spam, mass invitations or artificial engagement.
Respect people
- No harassment, stalking, bullying, threats, blackmail, non-consensual sexual content or unwanted sexual conduct.
- No hateful attacks or exclusion based on protected characteristics. Context matters for quotation, counterspeech, self-description and reclaimed language; criticism or profanity alone is not automatically hate.
- No doxxing or unjustified exposure of another person's private location, contact, identity or sensitive information. A public venue address differs from exposing a targeted person's home or a child's live location.
Protect minors
Sexual exploitation, grooming, solicitation, endangerment or sexualised content involving minors is prohibited. Never use YET to arrange unsafe contact with a minor. We may preserve and report relevant evidence where law or safety obligations require it.
Sexual content and intimate privacy
- Do not post pornography, explicit sexual material, sexual solicitation or content facilitating exploitation.
- Do not share or threaten to share intimate imagery without the depicted person's consent, including fabricated, digitally altered or AI-generated depictions. Consent to create or send an image privately is not consent to public distribution.
- Art, breastfeeding, non-erotic medical education, reporting and awareness can change the context of a depiction. Review considers that context, and a label saying "art" does not excuse exploitation.
Support people without promoting harm
- Do not encourage, instruct or coerce suicide, self-harm or dangerous eating-disorder behaviour.
- Support seeking, recovery and prevention discussion are not automatically promotion and should not be punished merely for mentioning a sensitive topic.
- Do not post gratuitous graphic injury, torture or gore or celebrate violence. Necessary news, safety or educational context is considered, including the audience and avoidable graphic exposure.
- Do not facilitate prohibited weapons or controlled-substance sales, trafficking, or encourage minors to use alcohol, tobacco, vaping products or drugs.
Keep events safe and lawful
- Do not promote violence, credible threats, terrorism, dangerous stunts or instructions intended to cause harm.
- Do not organise illegal sales, scams, trafficking, weapons activity or distribution of prohibited goods.
- Event creators must have permission to use the venue and must disclose material access, age, safety or cost conditions.
- Do not conceal cancellations, impersonate official events or direct attendees to unsafe locations.
Respect ownership
Share only content you own, are authorised to use, or may lawfully use under an applicable exception. Do not misuse trademarks, copyrighted images, music, event branding or another person's likeness. Rights holders may contact info@yet.social with enough information to identify the work and content.
No platform abuse
Do not scrape users or events, harvest contact details, probe security, distribute malware, evade blocks or enforcement, automate access without permission, sell accounts or use YET data for surveillance or unsolicited commercial targeting.
Reporting and emergencies
Use the in-app report menu for a profile, event, comment or message, and block accounts when needed. Reports should explain the concern accurately. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services; an in-app report is not an emergency channel. Additional concerns may be sent to info@yet.social.
Request intimate-image removal
Email info@yet.social with the subject "Intimate image removal". You need no account. Include the content's YET link or identifier, your contact details, a brief good-faith nonconsent statement with relevant information, and your electronic or physical signature as the depicted person or authorised representative. Do not email the image or suspected child sexual abuse material. A police report or new image upload is not a routine condition. See the Terms for the applicable notice process and US 48-hour duty where the TAKE IT DOWN Act applies; this is not a universal response promise or proof of continuous staffing.
How enforcement works
Depending on context, severity, substantiated history and risk, YET may reduce visibility, remove content, disable features, restrict invitations, suspend or terminate an account, preserve necessary evidence or notify competent authorities where lawful. Serious harm may require immediate action. Reports must be assessed on their evidence: an accusation or technical signal alone is not a finding. Misuse of reporting and retaliation against reporters are prohibited.
New or edited public submissions covered by YET's prepublication review flow are held privately for human review before publication. This includes eligible public event and profile content, usernames, comments and images. A person reviews each candidate in this flow before approval, including event covers, profile avatars and gallery images submitted through the public event-media review path. A pending state is not a rule violation, and a rejected edit normally preserves the last accepted version unless it is separately restricted. Approval permits publication only through a successful retry of the exact approved submission, not automatic publication. Errors or expiry do not publish pending material.
Google Cloud Natural Language and Vision safety checks are not active in this release. Content is not sent to those services for screening, including when an account has a saved AI preference. Manual review does not require AI permission. This notice and any saved preference do not authorise future AI processing. Google/Firebase infrastructure and optional Google sign-in remain separate uses described in the Privacy Policy.
Existing comments on an event becoming public are reviewed by a person. These Guidelines still apply across YET, including private events, private chats, PDFs and existing content, even where content is not covered by prepublication review. No promise is made that every item is checked in advance. Targeted human handling of reports and lawful requirements remains possible under the Privacy Policy.
Human review and appeals
Affected users and reporters may request free human review for at least six calendar months from notification of the decision. Email info@yet.social with the subject "Moderation appeal", the content or decision identifier and an explanation. You do not need to log in, enable AI checks or reproduce an original image. We consider context, explain outcomes and correct unsupported restrictions without undue delay. Applicable statutory remedies remain available.
The private raw candidate has a 30-day usable lifetime from reservation of the submission attempt; physical deletion can lag during scheduled cleanup or failures. Minimal decision records support later review. A lawful copy supplied voluntarily can help, but do not retransmit illegal material. A favorable appeal does not reconstruct deleted content. Where needed, the content owner may submit a fresh candidate with its actual current text, image, author and target for human approval. The process is email-based, not a promise of an integrated case dashboard, one-click restoration or a fixed response time for every appeal. See the Terms and retention notice.
